The Fellowship of the Ring - J.R.R.Tolkien

'' Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for the Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them,
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.''

The Fellowship of the Ring is book one of the series The Lord of the Rings.

It begins with the book The Hobbit about the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, and the Fellowship of the Ring is where Frodo Baggins begins his quest to destroy the Ring that the evil Dark Lord created before he takes over all of Middle Earth.

Every day Frodo is in danger as the Dark Lord had many servants to kill Frodo and take the Ring back to the Dark Lord. The Ring was found in one of Bilbo's adventures where he got lost in a cave and found the ring while he was blindly looking around.

It began on a crisp Spring day, and all of the hobbits were preparing for a big party for their good friend Bilbo. I can't tell you what happened, you'll have to read it for yourself, but by mere chance the Ring was passed to Frodo, and with the whole future of Middle Earth in his hands, he set off on this dangerous journey, wondering if he would ever see the Shire again

And this begins the adventure of Frodo and his companions called The Fellowship of the Ring, the first book of the series The Lord of the Rings.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errends meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.''

Pride-By Kiara and Kayla Hebert

Pride
Written by Kiara and Kayla Hebert

Pride is the beginning of a great
fall;
It makes people think
they're the greatest of
all.
Your mind is thinking wicked
lies,
I know it is true I can see it in your
eyes.
Pride is evil words spreading like
fire,
day and night, it does not
tire.

The Martyr of the Catacombs

The Martyr of the Catacombs is a book I recommend every family should read. It was written by a anonymous writer and was published.

When Marcellus, a young and honored soldier visits the Coliseum with his friend, Lucullus. He watched all the fights and battles and the killing, but, when three bloodthirsty panthers were thrown in the arena with a to kill and old Christian man, Marcellus felt touched as the panthers tore the man to pieces. More wild animals were put in the arena, and several young Christian girls were put in the arena. As death was drawing near the young maidens sang,

Unto Him that loved us,

To Him that washed us from our sins

In His own blood;

To Him that made us kings and priests,

To our God and Father

To Him be glory and dominion

Forever and ever.

Hallelujah. Amen!

After that there was blood of agony and shrieks as each of them were killed by the wild beasts.

That gave Marcellus a curiosity of Christianity. That was when his best friend Lucullus told him that the emperor had told him to tell you that he was giving you the job of finding the Christians in the catacombs and arresting them.

So the next day Marcellus woke up early and woke up his soldiers and headed to look for the catacombs. He walked down a road called The Appian Way, and looked around him at all the tombs of his ancestors and all the beautiful buildings and riches that he may someday obtain. He walked through the city and back into the country. It was getting dark out when he saw an old man carrying a bundle with a boy walking next to him. he walked over to then and asked,''Do you know where the catacombs are?'' When the old man heard what he had said he fled, but Marcellus grabbed the boy's arm.''What was in that bundle?'' he asked sternly. "Supplies'' replied the boy. ''For whom?'' Marcellus asked. ''For people in need'' said the boy. ''Who are the people in need?'' Marcellus said. ''I cannot betray them sir.'' said the boy. ''Betray who? asked Marcellus. ''The Christians.'' said the boy. ''What is your name?'' said Marcellus. ''Pollio.'' replied the boy. ''Who is your father and mother?'' asked Marcellus. ''My father died in war and my mother is Lady Cecelia whom I live in the catacomb with.'' replied Pollio. ''Lead me to the catacombs. said Marcellus. ''I cannot betray my friends.'' said Pollio. ''Listen.'' said Marcellus. ''If you show me to the catacombs the Christians can do whatever the want with me. For I do not know the paths of the catacombs.'' The boy thought for a moment and then said, ''If you keep your promise I will lead you to the catacombs.'' They walked into a small hut and Pollio stopped at a door. ''This door leads to the catacombs. Follow me.'' said Pollio. They walked for hours until Marcellus heard singing. They walked right where the Christians were. Marcellus saw and elderly looking man. ''He must be the leader of them all.'' thought Marcellus. All the Christians stopped, some fled, some stayed. ''Pollio!'' shouted Lady Cecelia with a pale and worried face. ''Welcome'' said the elderly man. ''I am Honorius.'' Marcellus looked at the man. ''I have been told to arrest the Christians.'' said Marcellus.''But one day when I visited the Coliseum I saw Christians being killed by wild beasts.'' ''I have been wondering about what you believe. I have been told to hate Christians all my life but when I saw the Christians being killed I saw how bold they were and how bravely they faced death. I have wanted to learn what they believe. Honorius then told him the gospel, and Marcellus committed his life to the Father.

The Martyr of the Catacombs

The book "The Martyr of the Catacombs" is about a young Roman soldier Named Marcellus, who was converted to Christianity during a time of great persecution of Christians. After his conversion, Marcellus lived in the catacombs with all the other Christians, until he gave up his life for his Savior.

Marcellus' curiosity of Christianity began while he was at the Coliseum, and he saw the Christians being persecuted. He watched as young girls and old men boldly faced death. Shortly after this Marcellus was put in charge of arresting all the Christians. Then Marcellus found a young Christian boy named pollio, who ended up leading Marcellus to the catacombs where the Christians were. While Marcellus was there a man named Honorious shared the gospel with Marcellus, and shortly after Marcellus was saved. Because of this Marcellus was forced to live in the catacombs, but he was more happy there than he had ever been before. He continued to grow in knowledge and in spirit while he was there. But then one day Pollio, the boy who had brought Marcellus to the catacombs, was arrested. Marcellus watched as Polio was brought into the colliseum and bravely accepted death to a tiger. After Pollio's death Marcellus stood up from the crowd and shouted "O death, where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory?... thanks be to God who giveth us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ", and then he was arrested. Marcellus was then burned at the stake and before he died he shouted "Victory".

This was a very inspiring book, and it really showed what true Christianity is, and how far Christians have gone astray. I would definately recomend this book to any Christian person.

Kiara's New Story-'A Pioneer Life'

A Pioneer life.
By: Kiara Lea Hebert.
March 12, 2010, 8 years old

There was a little kitten named Acorn. He was playing with his owner,Grace. Now Grace (who was nine turning ten soon) had four family members, three were boys and Grace was the only girl, (leaving her mother out).

Her brothers names were, Jacob the oldest, Josiah a good and obedient child , Gideon the youngest , her father James and her mother, Leah.
They were walking in a field one day on a hot summer day with Acorn, when Grace's father said he was going to go out hunting.

He would leave Jacob at home since when he would ask a question to the the younger boys he would blurt out the answer.

Before James left with Caleb and Gideon, he gave strict orders to Jacob. But while he was telling the orders to Jacob, Jacob kept on dozing off as if the orders weren't important. So when James left, Jacob didn't do anything his father told him to do.
Leah was cooking dinner while Grace was playing with Acorn. Acorn loved to be stroked, pet and play outside. He would catch bad field mice or crows that would eat the crops, sometimes he would even follow James for awhile when he went hunting. He liked to catch fish that were in the stream near there house. When he caught a fish he would bring it to James.
One day, a late August day James had just came home for hunting and he said to Leah, ''the food is scarce, all I caught were two rabbits, we need to move soon.'' And that started the adventures for Acorn.

So they packed up some things and got their covered wagon ready. It was a months until they reached a little town with a big gate around it. The gate kept the town safe from wild carnivores and Indians that lurked nearby. Grace thought the town (that was called Sun Village) fascinating. The boys made a little hut for them to live in for now. The people in Sun Village thought that Acorn was adorable since nobody owned a cat in the village. When Acorn would go outside he would be fed fish by his neighbors, he liked this very much. James liked Sun Village and he said to Leah one day when it was almost Fall,'' Leah, I think this is home, I feel so comfortable here, Grace has made new friends and I heard that there is a school here with very good and well educated teachers, and there is a nice church with a very good pastor''. The boys thought the Sun Village interesting and liked to talk to other boys about what was in the woods outside the gate. James then said that they were going to stay here but first, they were going to take down the hut and start building a house(with the help of some neighbors) while Grace and Leah would play and cook dinner with some neighbors. The day the house was done, they planned a picnic with the pastor of the church and the neighbors who helped with the house. A few years past, Grace was twelve, and Jacob was married and lived in a different country. It was a nice and peaceful afternoon when all of a sudden you could here Indian war cries. When faster then you could walk ten steps Indians broke down the gate(which was very old and worn) and started flooding into the village. Indians broke down doors to houses and flooding in to them and stealing many things. Leah and Grace were so frightened, Grace quickly grabbed Acorn and hid in a hole. Then the house was quiet. Grace was about to go out when an Indian stomped into the deserted house. Grace was so quiet she could hear her heart beat. Her mind was asking many questions like, Were is my family? Are the Indians gone? What happened to my parents? Where will I go afterwords? She stayed in the hole for what seemed like hours, when she heard a stick crack. There still here she whispered to herself but she whispered so quietly only she could hear it. They are still here. Acorn was not in a in a very comfortable state. He felt like squirming around and meowing like crazy, but Grace managed to keep control over him. They stayed in the hole for a bout half the day when Grace finally came out with Acorn. Grace felt like crying when she saw the state of the village. The chapels stained windows were all cracked and broken and all the Bibles pages were ripped and torn, the beautiful carved pews were all scratched and the the church looked deserted and old. Grace started walking down the path with Acorn in her arms while she looked at ruined homes when she almost bumped into her brother, Gideon. Grace was so glad,'' One of my family members is actually alive!'' She cried out. Gideon was glad too, Grace asked how he had survived, he said that father had made him run into a little hole and there he had stayed there for five hours. Gideon asked how she had survived and Grace told him her story. Gideon then said that ''he didn't know were the rest of the family was, but he did know that father had been severely wounded to save me.'' Grace wept knowing that father is at deaths door or if God would do a miracle. Gideon tried to cheer her up but the thing that cheered Grace up the most that Gideon said was ''that father had lived a good and Godly life, and was a Christian, and on earth he would be at deaths door, but in Heaven he would be knocking at the Celestial City door and would be welcomed in by the Father and hosts of angels.'' This cheered Grace very much, but she was sad that she would not see him on earth no more.
Poor Grace and Gideon as the strolled in the village. When they came to their house, they saw father with all his might, trying to sing hymns to God. When he saw Grace and Gideon he praised God. Then he said to them his last words, in a weak and painful sounding voice. He said to them, ''Be strong in the Lord, do not forsake him as He will not forsake you when you are truly His. Then he recited them Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Then he lifted his head to the heavens and said, Lord I am coming, thank you for dying on the cross so I can live with you forever in eternity, thank you thank you Lord, and thank you you for keeping Gideon, Grace and Acorn safe.''(He chuckled while saying Acorn) when he lifted his head up praised God and laid his head down and died. Gideon and Grace wept bitterly,''he saved my life''was all Gideon could say, all Grace could say was ''he sacrificed his life for his son, he lived a good life and had given himself to the Lord, served him till the very end and that he was shouting and praising God in the Celestial City, he made it there before me. He was so good and faithful to the Lord, even in hard trials and persecution. He was a good father, obeyed the Lord so faithfully, he loved his family, did what he knew was best for them, he even sacrificed himself for his son, he had the love like Jesus on dying on the cross''.
Gideon and Grace found a group of other people who had hid and survived the Indian raid . The pastor of the now deserted church had survived and was cheering everybody up, and anybody who said to him they hated the Indians he then told them to love are enemies and if somebody smacked there cheek then give him the other one and he told them to forgive anybody who did any wrong.
Gideon and Grace said goodbye and left the group. While they where walking on the path they saw an Indian sitting there, crying. Gideon then walked up to him as quietly as he could but the Indian heard him. He then looked at Gideon and Grace and said, ''I sorry I kill people, I bad.'' And with that he started weeping. Gideon then looked at Grace, when Grace walked up to him and said,'' We forgive you, we can tell you good news,''and with that Gideon and Grace started sharing with him the gospel, how he sinned and deserve hell explained what hell is, what torment people have in hell, then they told him the good news of the gospel, how Christ died, how he rose in three days, and how he conquered death, and how you everybody needs to repent to be saved from hell. When the Indian heard all they could say he looked up to the heavens and said, Please forgive Me, I bad, I kill people all life, I not worthy what you did on cross, thank you, I turn from false gods I used to believe, Amen. With that the Indian lift his soul for God. Then he said to Gideon and Grace,'' my name Chihynu.'' (Chee hi new) After that he befriended Gideon and Grace and would follow them wherever they went, to Gideon and Grace it seemed like he was part of the family, both thought, he is part of the family, Gods family.
Gideon, Chihynu, Grace and Acorn then left the deserted city and traveled many miles till they reached a meadow, Chihynu then said that this ''was a beautiful place. Gideon then said, ''We can build a small town, and start a city that my father wished existed.'' So Gideon and Chihynu started building and Grace would get water for them, and when people who were traveling saw them working and would join, as the merry group would work, things were getting closer to their goal. When one cool Fall day the group had finished the last house. They were all happy but Gideon said that they should build a nice strong gate, just to be on the safe side, and they did make a nice strong gate.
And after more people moved in the houses and the population started growing they then decided to vote for mayor and that is what they did. And the one who had the most votes was Gideon, he then had Chihynu and Grace right beside as his friends. Gideon was a good mayor, made sure the people would obey the laws (and God's law) and many people were very happy with Gideon.
One person who moved in the town had a female cat named Ginger, then the owner found out that Ginger was going to have babies and the second he found out he knew who the father was.... Acorn! And after she gave birth there were plenty of cats in the little town, they would catch mice and keep away bad birds. And Acorn was a very proud father!

The Kindly Wildcat
By: Kayla Noel Hebert

Once upon a time there was a little boy named John.Right now he was in search for his kitten Daniel. He started looking everywere. John hesitated a little as he started to look in the dangerous woods were his mother warned him about. All he thought that he was old enough to go by himself. At the foot of the woods he started calling Daniel's name. He went in the woods till he got farther and farther from home. He soon found out he was lost though he was to proud to admit it. Losing hope he settled himself on a tree stump throwing some leaves on it before he sat down. In the late August it was very windy and cold. All of a sudden after a time of peace and quiet he heard a huge ROAR! He looked and saw a cave he hadn't noticed before. There lay a wildcat cocking its head at him. It had roared to get his atention. The wildcat very curious about him. The wildcat ( which John called Levi.) seemed very content and happy to have company over. Levi, showed John to his house. There he saw Daniel run to him. Levi was pleased to see he had found his rightful owner. After days of being Levi and Daniel John's mother was very worried. John was thinking the whole time that his mother must be very worried. The next day after coaxing Levi to come with him the group of three set off. When they reached home John's mother ran to him. She almost fainted when she saw Levi. John told her that he was very nice and coaxed his parents in keeping Levi. They both agreed knowing he may be good for hunting, guarding the house etc. And now it has been a very good choice to keep Levi.
